The Columbia Elementary News Crew has been recognized for its efforts in producing the school's daily morning announcements. The team, made up of fifth-grade students, is responsible for planning, filming, and editing each segment. Their work aims to keep the school community informed about events and news.
Mrs. Darcy Miller oversees the News Crew. According to the announcement, "This group of dedicated fifth-grade students demonstrates teamwork, creativity, and confidence as they plan, film, and edit each segment — keeping their school community informed and engaged. Under the guidance of Mrs. Darcy Miller, the News Crew continues to provide students with meaningful opportunities to develop communication and leadership skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom."
Other schools in the district also produce regular news broadcasts. Dan Emmett Elementary creates a weekly "Hive Report," while Twin Oak and Pleasant Street Elementaries have their own student-led news crews providing updates on building events and celebrations.
The announcement concluded with: "Well done to all of our young News Crews for broadcasting excellence one video at a time!"
