Twin Oak Elementary wrapped up its annual Fit-A-Thon fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 26, with a lively twist: more than 15 teachers and staff members donned inflatable costumes and sprinted across the school grounds in a lighthearted race.
The event, held at the school on 8888 Martinsburg Road, combined fundraising, fitness, and community spirit in one of the year’s most anticipated traditions.
The Fit-A-Thon, designed to promote physical activity while raising money to support student learning, featured a SpongeBob SquarePants theme, inspired by the MTVArts musical production. Students spent the day participating in fitness challenges, games, and group activities, all aimed at encouraging healthy habits. Parents and community members joined to cheer on participants and contribute to the school’s fundraising goal.
Mrs. Swanson’s class earned special recognition for raising the highest amount of money, which will go directly toward enhancing classroom resources and student programs. Organizers said the fundraiser was not only financially successful but also a meaningful way to reinforce the school’s emphasis on wellness and teamwork.
The inflatable race by staff members proved to be the day’s highlight, with laughter and cheers echoing across the playground as teachers ran in oversized costumes ranging from cartoon characters to whimsical animals. Students enthusiastically cheered for their favorite characters, each one brought to life by school staff in colorful, creative costumes. The lively reactions brought more fun and excitement, turning the moment into a joyful celebration of imagination and school spirit. The spectacle quickly became a favorite moment among students and families, and is expected to become a permanent activity of the Fit-A-Thon event.
