The Licking County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of a transit vehicle and bus stop shelters at its September 11 meeting.
According to its meeting agenda for September 11, the Licking County Commissioners approved an agreement with Bus Service Inc. of Columbus, Ohio, for the purchase of a light transit vehicle. The vehicle will cost $141,885, and the term of the agreement extends through June 30, 2026.
The commissioners also approved an agreement with Brasco International Inc. of Madison Heights, Michigan, for the purchase of three bus stop shelters. The price of the shelters was set at $25,275.
Licking County Transit serves all 687 square miles of Licking County. It provides demand response and a deviated fixed route service that is ADA accessible. Route service includes multiple routes with designated stops, operating on a scheduled loop at specific times. Bus stops can be found using the route guide or at transit.lickingcounty.gov. Demand response is scheduled curb-to-curb service and can be arranged by calling 740-670-5185 (option 1) or 1-800-350-7071.
According to the Licking County Transit website, fare costs are posted for the general public at $4. Elderly and disabled fares are $2, with these passengers potentially qualifying for half fare upon application approval. Transit users aged 60 and above pay no fare as they qualify under the Senior Citizens Levy Program. Exact change or an ePass is required to ride; funds can be loaded on an ePass in person or with a driver or by visiting their payment gateway online.
