Fredericktown High School's boys golf team secured another victory on Tuesday, defeating Mount Gilead and Cardington Lincoln in a tri-match held at Vernon View Golf Course.
According to the match results, the Freddies achieved a team score of 195, improving their season record to 6-1. This performance has placed them in fourth position within the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference standings. Junior Cooper Lowe led Fredericktown with a score of 38 on the back nine, earning medalist honors. His teammates contributed with Thatcher Motter scoring 46, Braxton Horlacher 51, Jolie Cooper 60, and both Hunter Robertson and Joey McGregor finishing with scores of 70.
"It was a beautiful day to play golf," the head coach said. "The kids enjoyed it, even though there were some struggles. Cooper stepped up with a strong round, and it was great to see the team competing together." The coach also expressed appreciation for the competition and sportsmanship displayed by Mount Gilead and Cardington Lincoln. "We want to thank both schools for their competitiveness," he said. "We also appreciate the partnership between Vernon View and Fredericktown Local Schools."
Fredericktown is set to return to action on Wednesday at the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference (KMAC) Golf Tournament, which will be hosted at Apple Valley Golf Course.
