Hosted at 1 South Main Street, September First Friday will keep Downtown Mount Vernon busy and lively from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sept. 5.
The Back to School Edition of First Friday this September, which is presented by the Parent Support Initiative of Knox County, will feature the annual Education Night, where families can connect with local schools, colleges, and youth organizations in a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
Attendees can expect a vibrant mix of activities for all ages. Among others, children can enjoy the Touch-A-Truck experience, and families can look forward to a lively evening filled with entertainment and delicious options from different food trucks.
This event is part of a larger seasonal celebration series, with past themes including Mount Vernon’s 220th Birthday Bash in June, Red, White & Blue Party in July, and Dog Days of Summer in August. September’s Back to School theme continues the tradition of bringing the community together around shared milestones and local pride.
Adding to the excitement is the Cruise-In activity. Participants must follow specific safety rules, including designated entry (East Vine via South Gay Street or West Vine via South Mulberry) and exit routes (South Gay Street or South Mulberry Street only). Restricted traffic zones from 4 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on the following streets: Public Square, South Main Street, East/West High Street, and East/West Gambier Street. These guidelines ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for pedestrians, vendors, and volunteers alike.
First Fridays were voted 2025 Best Summer Festival in Ohio by Midwestern Traveller Magazine.
