Before the start of classes at the Centerburg High School, Principal Brent Garee released a few reminders for the students and their families. In a recently issued newsletter, he also expressed his positive anticipation of a fruitful incoming school year.
"I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to working together to make it a successful and memorable one," Garee stated. "As always, if you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at brent.garee@centerburgschools.org."
Attendance was among the underscored reminders. According to the newsletter, it remains a top priority at Centerburg High School as it significantly helps improve the students' grades and test scores. However, if a student is sick and unable to attend classes, families are advised to notify the school via email at attendance.ms.hs@centerburgschools.org.
The school will also be adopting a policy prohibiting students from using their cellphones from 8:16 a.m. to 2:54 p.m. In case of important matters, parents can contact their students through the school. Hence, it is relevant for families to take note of the school's number, (740) 625-6055. On the otherhand, students who need to call their parents will be allowed to use the office phone. The phone ban, which complies with Ohio's New Cellphone Law, will foster student focus and engagement in the classroom.
"As part of House Bill 33, the biennial Ohio state operating budget signed into law by Governor DeWine on June 30, 2025, new guidelines now prohibit students from using cell phones during the instructional day under most circumstances," the newsletter reads.
Centerburg High School is committed to partnering with families to create an impactful learning experience.
