Students, parents, and staff in the Centerburg School District will return this fall to a campus featuring smoother and safer parking lots, along with improved accessibility. This development comes as a result of a major summer resurfacing project.
According to district officials, extensive asphalt work was undertaken across multiple facilities to address areas that were "well overdue for a facelift." The elementary school experienced the most visible changes, including new sidewalks, upgraded parent drop-off and pick-up areas, and freshly marked handicapped parking spaces designed to better serve families and visitors with mobility needs.
At the high school and middle school campus, student parking lots received complete resurfacing. This created a cleaner and more durable surface for daily use. District leaders said that the improvements not only enhance the appearance of the facilities but also provide long-term safety and accessibility benefits.
"These upgrades are an investment in our community," said school officials. They emphasized that these changes improve daily experiences for students and families while ensuring the facilities remain safe and welcoming. The work was completed during the summer months to avoid disruption to the school year and represents one of the largest campus infrastructure projects undertaken by the district in recent years.
With these updates in place, Centerburg Trojans are ready to kick off the new school year on solid ground—quite literally.
