The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County has announced a series of free movie screenings open to the public. These events will be held in the Multipurpose Room on the ground level of the main library building at 201 N. Mulberry St., Mount Vernon, Ohio. The library requires that children and teens attend with a supervising adult.
According to the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, the Armchair Traveler series will feature "Australia" on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 7 to 8 p.m., with host Rudy Maxa introducing viewers to the country's diverse landscapes and cultures. Main Movie Night on July 29, 2025, from 7 to 9 p.m., will screen "Wicked," a PG-rated film adaptation of the award-winning musical based on the Land of Oz.
On August 5, 2025, from 7 to 9 p.m., the Silver Screeners series presents "Jailhouse Rock," a TV-14-rated classic starring Elvis Presley, noted for defining the "Elvis" film genre. Retro Cinema will showcase "Eddie and the Cruisers" on August 12, 2025, also from 7 to 9 p.m., a 1983 PG-rated film with a soundtrack by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, adapted from a novel by P.F. Kluge. The series concludes with Main Movie Night on August 26, 2025, from 7 to 9 p.m., presenting "A Complete Unknown," an R-rated biographical drama featuring Timothée Chalamet portraying Bob Dylan.
The Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County supports its community by offering educational, cultural, informational, and recreational resources across multiple locations.
