Dalton Native earns back-to-back academic all-america honors | MVNU Athletics

Mount Vernon Nazarene University's Evan Hodkinson has been recognized among the nation's top student-athletes, earning CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team honors for the second consecutive year.

According to the university, Hodkinson, a biology major from Dalton, Ohio, maintained a 3.95 GPA while excelling in track events. Representing Mount Vernon Nazarene University's (MVNU) men's cross country and track & field programs, he performed well in both conference and national competitions throughout the 2024 season.

Hodkinson was named an outdoor all-conference performer in the 800-meter and 4x400-meter relay. His season included a runner-up finish in the 800-meter at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Outdoor National Championships with a time of 1:50.40. He also qualified for nationals in the 1500-meter and 4x800-meter relay events.

Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a private Christian institution located on a 327-acre campus in Mount Vernon, Ohio. It serves nearly 2,100 students from 33 states and 26 countries and emphasizes academic rigor, spiritual development, and service.
