Northridge Softball Grows Through Adversity in Rebuilding Season | Northridge Lady Vikings Softball/fb

The Northridge High School varsity softball team concluded its 2025 season with a record of 5-19. Despite the statistics, the team's development and determination were evident throughout their campaign.

Under the guidance of coaches James Sims, Jordan Murphy, and Eryn Queen-Albright, the Lady Vikings demonstrated steady improvement. They overcame early challenges to finish the season with increased confidence and teamwork. The team achieved several milestones, including a combined no-hitter and an improved team batting average compared to the previous year.

According to the coaching staff, "This season was filled with growth." They noted that the team learned resilience and played some of their best games as they approached the playoffs.

Ellie Reese emerged as a standout player, earning the title of team MVP. She collaborated with Kadance Adkins for a no-hitter performance. Kaylee Goodwin returned from knee surgery to make significant contributions both on and off the field. Freshmen Elizabeth Behn and Khloe Angus made immediate impacts in defense and pitching, respectively. Camryn Moore and Kaitlyn Angus displayed versatility, while Mary Cate Spang led in batting average and home runs during her first year in high school softball.

Beyond statistics, Northridge's culture of perseverance became a defining characteristic. The coaching staff commended the players for their growth in communication and accountability over the season.

Looking forward, the Vikings plan to build on this foundation by focusing on developing their young pitching staff, refining fundamentals, and maintaining offensive momentum. Improving field conditions remains a priority due to weather-related disruptions affecting practice sessions.

"We have the pieces," said Sims. "Now it’s about continuing to lay the bricks. With the mindset this group has shown, we’re excited for what’s ahead."
