Preschool students at East Knox Elementary recently participated in an art show, showcasing that artistic expression can begin at a young age. The preschool is part of the Knox Educational Service Center (ESC) and accommodates around 38 students across two morning classes and two afternoon classes, all housed in the school's new wing.

Teacher Erica Beltz explained that the students' artwork was inspired by two books read in class. "We read 'Over in the Ocean' together. The children used yarn and beads to create their favorite scenes from the book," Beltz stated. "We also read 'Sky Color.' Students used watercolors to paint what they enjoyed about that book."

The children's artwork was displayed in the hallway for visitors to view during a public art show held on May 7.

Other staff members involved with the East Knox preschool include teacher Nicole Cook and assistant teachers Ariel Lashley and Jade Salinas.

Knox ESC manages additional preschool locations in Mount Vernon, Centerburg, and Fredericktown. For enrollment details, interested parties can call 740-393-6980.
