Mount Vernon City Schools, in collaboration with Nationwide Children’s Hospital, is introducing a transportation pilot program to support students at Pleasant Street and Dan Emmett Elementary Schools. The program will run during the final two months of the 2024-2025 school year.
"Together, Nationwide Children’s and Mount Vernon City Schools strive to keep students in school and connect them to the important health care services they need – because we know healthy kids make healthy learners," William Seder Jr., Mount Vernon City Schools Superintendent stated.
Under this pilot program, Mount Vernon City Schools vehicles and staff will transport students from their elementary schools to their scheduled health appointments at the school-based center and return them afterward. However, transportation and appointments will only take place with prior parental consent, ensuring full transparency and communication with families.
Prior to any visit, a Nationwide Children’s staff member will reach out to parents to collect necessary health details.
Families may receive a phone call in the coming months regarding overdue annual well visits for their children. Parents can schedule these visits during the call or directly by contacting (740) 326-5120, option 3.
