Habitat for Humanity of Knox County has announced the Bottles for Builds bourbon raffle and tasting event, scheduled for May 1, 2025, at Bickerdyke Table and Tap in Mount Vernon. The announcement was made through a press release on April 8, 2025.

According to Habitat for Humanity of Knox County, the Bottles for Builds event will feature bourbon-themed hors d’oeuvres, exclusive tastings, and a chance to win premium bottles such as Blanton’s Gold and Stagg Jr. Local band Court 'n Jester is set to provide live entertainment. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for bourbon prize packages, with the grand prize valued at over $3,000.

Proceeds from the event will support Habitat for Humanity of Knox County’s home construction and repair efforts. The organization is currently building six homes on Columbus Road and plans to construct a total of twelve by 2026. The raffle includes rare bourbons and other collector favorites, with tickets available online or at the door.

"Bottles for Builds isn’t just a fundraiser—it’s a catalyst," said Terry Schulz, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Knox County. "Every ticket purchased, every bottle raffled, is another step toward ending housing insecurity in our own backyard. It’s about neighbors coming together to build a stronger, more stable Knox County—one home at a time With every brick laid and every dollar raised, we’re telling our neighbors: you belong here. And Bottles for Builds is just one more way we can raise the funds—and raise the roofs—to make that promise real."

Knox County Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1987 following a visit by Habitat's founder Millard Fuller. Since then, it has helped over 35 families secure safe and affordable housing. Initially driven by volunteers, the organization expanded by opening its first ReStore in the early 2000s and hiring an Executive Director in 2014 to further its growth. In addition to offering homeownership opportunities, it provides "A Brush with Kindness" projects and affordable merchandise through its ReStore.
