East Knox FFA participated in the State FFA Nature Interpretation Career Development Event, securing fifteenth place among various teams from Ohio. The event took place on March 29 at Hocking College in Nelsonville. The team was composed of senior Aiden Kapper and freshmen Madisyn Frost and Nealie Oliver.

Individually, Madisyn Frost achieved 34th place, Aiden Kapper came in 49th, and Nealie Oliver finished 80th out of more than 110 competitors. Participants were tasked with identifying mammals, nongame birds, non-woody plants, herptiles, and equipment. They also completed three practicums and a general information test on nature interpretation.

The practicums included "Attracting Wildlife," where contestants identified common wildlife around homes and methods to attract them; "Determining Water Quality," which involved assessing water quality in streams; and "Controlling Problem Plants and Animals," requiring identification of plant and animal species to determine control practices for invasive species.

The Nature Interpretation CDE aims to promote understanding of natural resources and recognize individuals who demonstrate skills through natural resources instruction.
