The East Knox FFA of East Knox Local Schools recently participated in the Ohio FFA Equine Career Development Event (CDE) at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus on March 22. The announcement was made through a press release on April 1, 2025.
According to the East Knox FFA, members Miranda Fawcett, Ava Page, Peyton Harris, Laureyah Neely, and Rhyan Williams competed against 114 teams and 381 individuals from across Ohio, securing the 26th position. The event required participants to judge four halter classes based on conformation and two performance classes evaluating the horse’s handling and execution of patterns and gaits. Top teams advance to finals for additional judging and oral reasons for their placements.
In addition to horse evaluation, participants assessed a hay class based on growth stage and quality. Contestants identified various equipment such as saddles, bridles, farrier tools, as well as forages, weeds, and minerals. The competition also included a written test covering horse management and horsemanship.
