St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon has announced the official welcome of its new Rector, the Rev'd Charles Wilson, scheduled for Saturday, April 5th. The announcement was made through a press release.

According to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, it will hold a "Celebration of New Ministry" service at 1 p.m. on April 5 to officially welcome Rev'd Charles Wilson as the new Rector. The service will be led by the Rt. Rev’d Anne Jolly, Bishop of Ohio, and will include the rite of institution with additional Episcopal clergy participating. The event will also be available via live stream on the parish’s YouTube channel.

Wilson began serving at St. Paul’s on October 1 of the previous year and has held various interim roles in Ohio and West Virginia. Before arriving in Mount Vernon, he worked as a hospice chaplain and served as a hospital chaplain in Columbus during the pandemic. According to the church, this marks his third rector position in his ministry career.

Originally from Holyoke, Massachusetts, Wilson and his wife relocated to Ohio in 1998 and now reside north of Columbus. They have two children and are nearing empty-nester status. A graduate of Bexley Hall Seminary, his professional interests focus on public ministry, ecumenism, and liturgy, guided by questions from Scripture that reflect on purpose and action in ministry.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is committed to strengthening its connection to Scripture and Christ. The church has been involved in local programs such as providing meals and holiday support through the Turn-the-Tide program and founding a men’s homeless shelter in 2008. Recently, it has offered a Women’s Shelter during winter months and hosts "Sunday Sanctuary" open houses for homeless individuals. Additionally, the church provides space for Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and supports local groups like Interchurch Social Services and the Mount Vernon Players theater group.
