Margaret Elizabeth Thompson, age 78, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 22, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, Margaret was the daughter of James and Mary Wilson. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1963 and went on to earn her nursing degree from Ohio State University. Margaret dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a registered nurse at Knox Community Hospital for over 30 years. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Margaret enjoyed gardening, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Thompson; her children, Sarah (Michael) Johnson and David (Jennifer) Thompson; her grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, and Benjamin; and her sister, Patricia Wilson. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on March 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Margaret's memory.
