Mount Vernon City Schools is set to host its 2025 Spring Concert Series, featuring a variety of performances from students across different grade levels. The series will begin on Thursday, April 10, with the Twin Oak Elementary Concert at Knox Memorial Theater.
The schedule includes several events such as the MVHS Spring Musical "Little Women," which will be performed on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, at the MVHS Theater. The musical will have two showings on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Following this, East Elementary's K-2 Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, at the MVHS Theater. Dan Emmett Elementary's K-2 Concert will take place on Thursday, April 17, also at the MVHS Theater.
Pleasant Street Elementary's K-2 Concert is slated for Thursday, April 24. On Friday, April 25, attendees can enjoy the Tops & Pops Jazz Concert at the MVMS Commons.
In May, the series continues with performances including the MVHS Orchestra Concert on Thursday, May 1; Wiggin Street Elementary's K-2 Concert on Tuesday, May 6; and the MVMS Choir Concert on Thursday, May 8.
The series will conclude with several more concerts in mid-May: the May Fiesta Choir Show on Saturday, May 10; MVHS Band Concert on Monday, May 12; MVMS Band Concert on Tuesday, May 13; and finally the MVMS Orchestra Concert on Thursday, May 15.
Mount Vernon City Schools' music program spans all grade levels and is led by certified music specialists in classroom music as well as vocal and instrumental music. In recognition of its excellence in music education programs, the district was named a "Best Community for Music Education" by the NAMM Foundation in 2024.
