The Mount Vernon City Engineering Department manages projects and oversees permitting for various infrastructure aspects such as water, wastewater, stormwater, and zoning. It also maintains historical maps and documents related to city operations. Located at 40 Public Square, the department operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Development services including zoning regulations are handled by the department, while commercial building permits are issued by the State of Ohio. The city provides zoning district information through the Knox County Auditor’s GIS/Tax Map website; bid opportunities and engineering-related documents are available online.
