As the East Knox track and field team prepares for the upcoming season, head coach Jason Ewalt expresses anticipation for his athletes to build on the previous year's accomplishments.
Ewalt, who has been coaching at East Knox High School for 30 years, has a longstanding commitment to track and field, stemming from his own experiences as a competitor. His dedication to the sport led him into coaching after college, where he has since guided numerous athletes toward personal and team successes. "I’m excited to see our athletes’ improvement from a great year last season," Ewalt said.
According to Ewalt, several returning athletes are expected to make significant contributions this year. Hayden Baker, who competed in the 200-meter dash at the state level last season, Isabelle Grennell, a state qualifier in the shot put, and Corbin Poff, who reached regionals in both the long jump and high jump, are among those anticipated to have an impact.
Ewalt says that his motivation for coaching extends beyond competition itself. "Watching athletes improve themselves as the season goes on and reach their goals is what keeps me going," he said.
With an experienced coaching staff and a talented group of athletes, East Knox appears ready for another competitive season under Ewalt's leadership.
