Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action Commission has announced that the Winter Crisis Program, offered in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Development, will conclude on March 31. This initiative aims to assist income-eligible Ohioans with their heating costs. The announcement was made via a press release on March 3, 2025.

According to the program details, from November 1 to March 31, eligible Ohio residents can receive assistance with utilities facing disconnection, bulk fuels, or heating system repairs through the Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program. To qualify for this aid, household income must be at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for up to seven members or 60% of the State Median Income for eight or more members. For a family of four, this translates to an annual income limit of $54,600.

To apply for assistance, clients are required to schedule an appointment with the Kno-Ho-Co-Ashland Community Action Commission. Necessary documents include recent energy bills, a list of household members along with proof of income, citizenship or residency documentation, and proof of disability if applicable. Eligible households may receive up to $175 for regulated utility clients or $750 for unregulated utility clients. This support is applicable to utility bills or heating system repairs; however, no-shows could result in disconnection.
