KCCC announces student participation in SkillsUSA competitions

Knox County Career Center (KCCC) has announced that its students recently participated in the SkillsUSA Regional and Super Regional competitions. The announcement was made in a press release on February 27, 2025.

According to the release, SkillsUSA is a Technical Student Organization at KCCC where 19 students competed in the regional events, with nine qualifying for the SkillsUSA State competition scheduled for March 18. Seventeen students from KCCC will compete at the state level, including nine regional qualifiers and eight advancing directly. State qualifiers include Gracelynn Parrish (4th in Collision Repair), Evan Williams (Silver in CNC-Axis Milling), Keith Rogers (4th in Precision Machining), Ana Pore (4th in Job Skill Demo), Alyssa Higgs (Bronze in CNC Programming), Beau Keller (4th in CNC Programming), Estella Gandee (4th in Medical Terminology), Lilly Foster (Bronze in First Aid-CPR), and Albert Ross (Gold in CNC Turning).

"We are proud of all of our students who competed in the competition and are honored to go represent the Knox County Career Center at the SkillsUSA State competition," said Joe LaFevre, KCCC’s SkillsUSA co-advisor.

Russo added, "This is an excellent opportunity for students to represent our school and showcase the skills and abilities they have developed during their time in their lab."

SkillsUSA is a leading workforce development organization that supports students in becoming skilled professionals, career-ready leaders, and responsible community members. Representing over 413,000 career and technical education students and educators, SkillsUSA operates across middle schools, high schools, and postsecondary institutions nationwide. Its mission is delivered through the SkillsUSA Framework, which focuses on personal, workplace, and technical skills integrated into classroom curricula. Students develop hands-on skills in over 130 occupational areas.

Knox County Career Center offers a variety of career-focused programs at both the high school level and through the Knox Technical Center. Located at 306 Martinsburg Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio, the center provides career services, financial aid, and a range of programs designed to prepare students for successful careers.
