The East Knox Future Farmers of America (FFA) of East Knox Local Schools announced that two members recently participated in the District 7 Ag Power Diagnostics Event at Bane-Welker Equipment in Utica on February 8. The announcement was made in a press release on February 27, 2025.
According to the press release, Hayden Baker and Dylan Springer from East Knox FFA placed eighth in the six-county District 7 Ag Power Diagnostics event, which includes 31 schools from Knox, Licking, Fairfield, Franklin, Pickaway, and Ross Counties, as well as Clear Fork Schools. The top team from each of Ohio's 10 FFA districts advances to the state competition at the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima.
In the Ag Power Diagnostics event, participants performed hands-on diesel mechanics tasks, such as identifying "bugs" in tractors, combines, skid-steer loaders, and other diesel engines. Contestants were given a scenario mimicking a work order and were judged on their process and success in finding the problems. The event aims to enhance student knowledge and skills in diesel mechanics.
