The East Knox FFA of East Knox Local Schools announced that member Miranda Fawcett placed seventh in the Beginning Prepared category at the District 7 FFA public speaking event. The announcement was made in a press release on February 27, 2025.

According to the press release, District 7 includes 31 schools with Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapters across six counties: Knox, Licking, Fairfield, Franklin, Pickaway, and Ross. The top two contestants in each speaking category advance to the state contest at Marysville High School, where they compete for further recognition.

Sophomore Miranda Fawcett participated in the Beginning Prepared Division, presenting a speech titled "AI in Agriculture." Contestants are required to write and memorize their speeches, which are evaluated based on presentation quality, content, and their ability to respond to questions from judges. This public speaking career development event helps members develop essential communication skills that support leadership and career advancement.

FFA is a youth organization focused on developing leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Founded in 1928, it prepares members for careers in agriculture, business, science, education, and more. With local chapters led by student officers and agriculture teachers, FFA operates at three levels: local, state, and national. The organization provides hands-on learning experiences and opportunities for personal development. According to the National FFA Organization, FFA is supported through sponsorships, donations, and member dues.

East Knox Local School District is located in Howard, Ohio. It is home to the East Knox FFA Chapter which supports student development through agricultural education and leadership opportunities. The chapter recognizes achievements such as American and State Degrees and is led by a 2024-2025 officer team including Dylan Springer as President and Hayden Baker as Vice President. The chapter also organizes events like fruit and strawberry sales to support its activities.
