The Works invites you to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of glassblowing. Participants will have the chance to create their own blown-glass piece under the expert guidance of a professional glass artist. The classes, held in the studio at 55 S. 1st Street, offer a unique opportunity to learn a traditional craft in a hands-on environment.
Those interested in taking part are encouraged to register early, as glassblowing classes are highly popular and often sell out. Pre-registration is required for all sessions. Arriving promptly is essential to ensure participants make the most of their time in the studio. It is advised to arrive five minutes early; late arrivals may need to wait for the next available session.
Glassblowing is available to individuals aged 12 and older. Each session, lasting between 15 to 30 minutes depending on the piece being created, provides one-on-one instruction from a professional glass artist. Due to high demand, refunds are not available, but any questions can be directed to Guest Services at 740.349.9277.
Participants will not be able to take their hot glass creations home on the same day, as the items must cool in a special oven. Objects will be available for pick-up two business days later. Saturday creations can be collected on the following Wednesday, and Thursday creations on the subsequent Saturday. Shipping arrangements can be made for those unable to pick up their items, though The Works will store the glass pieces for up to six months.
Safety is paramount in the hot glass studio. Closed-toe shoes and eye protection (provided by The Works) are mandatory for all participants.
