Literary and writing programs hosted by Mount Vernon Public Library in 2025

Three literary and writing programs will be held at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County in 2025.

The Authors Anonymous group continues at the library, welcoming all writers ages 18 and older to join in twice a month for creative writing community, craft tips, workshops, and conversation. The group is open to writers at all stages of experience, from expert to novice, and will meet Thursdays from 6 until 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room on:

January 9 and 23

February 6 and 20

March 6 and 20

April 3 and 17

Attendees are asked to bring something to write with and on. Snacks will be provided.

The Teen Writing Program, each Wednesday from 4:30 until 5:30 in the solarium, welcomes writers of the ages of 13 through 18 to join in on workshops in fiction, poetry, and memoir. Snacks and free notebooks will be provided. No experience is required, so all are welcome on:

February 5, 12, 19, and 26

March 19 and 26

April 2, 9, 16, and 23

The Autobiography and Memoir: Writing About Life and Family course is open to adult writers who want to compose and share personal lived experiences and family stories. During each session on Wednesdays from 6 until 7:30 p.m., participants will generate new writing through exercises focused on nonfiction craft elements.

New participants may join the workshop at any time. No writing experience is necessary, but computer and internet fluency is recommended. 

Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook, laptop, or tablet. All writers, who are 18 years of age and older, are welcome. Course materials will be provided during the workshop held as follows in the multipurpose room:
