Knox County dog owners will soon be able to renew their pet licenses for 2025, with sales beginning Sunday, December 1, 2024. Licenses must be renewed by Wednesday, January 31, 2025, to remain compliant with local regulations.
The cost for a one-year license is $20 per dog. Owners can also opt for longer-term options, including a three-year tag priced at $60 and a permanent tag for $200. However, these extended-term licenses are non-refundable. Licenses can be purchased in person at two locations: the Knox County Auditor’s Office, located at 117 East High Street, Suite 120, in Mount Vernon, open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or the Knox County Dog Shelter, located at 285 Columbus Road in Mount Vernon, open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
For added convenience, licenses are also available online www.doglicenses.us. Online purchases will include a $2.25 processing fee per dog. Residents using a credit card at either the Auditor’s Office or the Dog Shelter will incur a 3% service charge, a new policy introduced this year.
Dog owners with questions can contact the Knox County Auditor’s Office at 740-393-6805. Ensure your pets are properly licensed and protected by securing your tag before the January 31 deadline.
