Members of the East Knox FFA recently competed in the Knox County FFA Junior “B” Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event, held at the old Fredericktown High School. The team earned third place with a silver rating in the competition, showcasing their growing skills in parliamentary procedure.

The team consisted of Aiden Kapper, Miranda Fawcett, Kylie Griffith, Braxton Lahmon, Weston Bostic, and Will Stokes. The Junior “B” or Intermediate contest is designed specifically for FFA members who are beyond the Novice level but not yet in the Advanced category. This event provides an opportunity for members to refine their skills in parliamentary procedure at the county and district levels.

East Knox narrowly missed advancing to the district competition, finishing just two points behind the second-place team. Only the top two teams in each sub-district qualify for the next level of competition.

During the event, the team had two minutes of preparation time followed by 12 minutes to demonstrate their abilities. They were required to present five specific parliamentary abilities, incorporate two assigned motions, and engage in debates for any abilities that required discussion. In addition to the hands-on portion, participants also completed a written test on parliamentary procedure.

The parliamentary procedure career development event is an interactive assessment that evaluates students' ability to participate effectively in business meetings and group decision-making processes. East Knox FFA's strong performance highlights their dedication to mastering these essential skills.
