On to the next. The Danville Blue Devils blew past their first round opponent Bridgeport on Friday in the OHSAA Playoffs by a score of 54-0, and are moving on to the second round.

The game was an interesting one for the Blue Devils, as they did not win this game in their usual smash-mouth style, and went to the air quite a bit. Senior quarterback Jacob Hackman threw for a season high four touchdowns and completed 8 of his 13 passes for 132 yards in the dominant Danville win.

Danville still ran the ball throughout the course of the night, but the load was divided by multiple offensive players. Eight different players rushed the ball on the night for the Blue Devils for a total of 150 yards and three touchdowns.

Star running back Aidan Burke was quiet for the most part, running the ball a season-low four times for 16 yards. He did however reach the end-zone three times, twice via the ground, and once through the air.

Senior wide receiver Levi Furay ended the night with the most receiving yards, catching two passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. Fellow teammate, Aidan Mickley, had the most receptions for Danville, with three catches that amounted to 38 yards, while also scoring a touchdown.

Linebacker Josh Byers led the Danville defense with a stellar performance, rushing the Bulldogs quarterback three times and making contact for two sacks. He also finished the game with another double digit tackle total of 10. The rest of the Danville defense played lights out in the shutout, with an astonishing stat of 10 sacks.

The season for the Bridgeport Bulldogs is over now, they ended the season with a 3-8 record. Danville, who is now 9-2, will take the week ahead to get ready for their next match-up, as they will take on the 5-5 Notre Dame Titans, out of Portsmouth, in the second round of the playoffs.
