Utica defense lines up against the Northridge offense | Stephanie Printz

Utica has been on a roll. The Redskins defeated the Northridge Vikings 7-3 Friday, Oct. 11. The win propelled Utica back to an even 4-4 record on the season.

The only two scores of the night came in the second quarter. Northridge scored first on a Charlie Kinkead 39-yard field goal. Utica scored the winning touchdown after, which came as a result of a Brandon Thornsberry 9-yard run.

Redskins quarterback Hayden Piper had a great game rushing the ball, but a rough game through the air. Piper completed only three of his seven pass attempts for a miniscule 13 yards. That being said, Piper did have a great game on the ground, as he ran the ball 15 times for 143 yards.

Defensive back Carson Meek obtained an interception during the game for the Redskins, while fellow defensive teammate Aaron Hayes assisted on 12 tackles, and also contributed three of his own.

Utica is in first place in the Licking County Cardinal Conference for the first time this season, and looks to be well on its way to compete come the end of the season in the playoffs.
