Northmor quarterback AJ Bowers calls out plays prior to the snap | Rob McCurdy

AJ Bowers and the Northmor Golden Knights escaped an upset by Mount Gilead with a score of 16-14.

Northmor emerged victorious in the matchup, but with many complications, as they allowed the Indians to put 223 yards on the ground on a whopping 56 carries.

Mount Gilead basically showed a smash-mouth football identity the entire game, so much so that they only attempted seven passes through the air.

Northmor had a decent lead going into the half, up 16-7. They failed to put any more points on the board though in the second half, and Mount Gilead took advantage. Ultimately, the Indians fell just a bit short, hence the final score.

Bowers finished the game for the Golden Knights with 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 15 completions out of 21 attempts. Cowin Becker was the recipient for both of Bowers' touchdowns.

Mt. Gilead’s running back Cam Vickers ended the night as the leading rusher of the game, accounting for 132 yards on 30 carries and two touchdowns.

Northmor is 8-0 on the season, making them one of only six undefeated teams in the Ohio Division VI, while also being the only undefeated team in the Knox Morrow Conference.

Mount Gilead falls to 2-6 after the loss, and has yet to win a game in conference play.
