The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets will take on the Licking Heights Hornets at 7 p.m. on Friday. Both Mount Vernon and Licking Heights will be coming off a loss, so it looks sure to be a motivating match-up.
Last Friday, Mt. Vernon was within striking distance, forcing an overtime finish, but couldn't close the gap as they fell 27-21 to Watkins Memorial.
Alternate quarterback Mason Richards was the bright spot for the Yellow Jackets in the game, as he rushed for 138 yards on 14 carries, and also threw for six yards and a touchdown. Mavrik Gregory, Mount Vernon's star running back, also handled things on the ground, rushing for 102 yards.
Mt. Vernon finished the game with 256 rushing yards. They have now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards in three consecutive match-ups.
Licking Heights fell prey to Granville High this past Friday, as they lost 21-0 to the Blue Aces.
Mt. Vernon will enter this week's match-up with a 2-5 record and as for Licking Heights, they have lost four of their last five games and sit with a losing record of 2-6.
