Part of the traffic plan for the east end of Mount Vernon with the “Edgewood Road Project” reconstructs Edgewood Road between St. Rt. 229 and E. High Street. Does anyone on City Council realize the southern end of this street, just north of 229, isn’t even in the city? It is, in fact, in Pleasant Township. There are six residences affected by this project. The homeowners, since they don’t live in the city, do not even have the right to vote on this issue, which will be on the November ballot.

Another part of the traffic plan widens E. High St. and reconstructs it so that it connects/merges with New Gambier Rd. in such a way as to create a direct throughway from the Public Square to Upper Gilchrist Rd. The increased volume of traffic these properties will experience doesn’t stop at the city limits. Six more properties in Pleasant Township and 13 in Monroe Township will have this throughway going past them.

Not only does the City Administration want to destroy home values in the east end of the city, they are going to decrease the value of homes and the quality of life of people who don’t even live in the city.

Vote "NO" on the “Edgewood Road Project” resolution on Nov. 5 to protect both township property owners and Mount Vernon neighborhoods from the City's plan to increase through traffic, on Edgewood Road and New Gambier Road.
