Knox County and the City of Mount Vernon have collaborated to create Together Knox, a process to create a comprehensive plan for Knox County, the City of Mount Vernon and other communities in the county.
The plan addresses goals, policies and actions for issues including land use, zoning, public services, transportation, housing, economy, natural resources and more, according to the website togetherknox.org.
Those who live, work or regularly visit Knox County are encouraged to submit feedback to ensure the comprehensive plan maintains the county's current and future quality of life. According to Together Knox, widespread public involvement is vital to the success of Together Knox. In-person meetings will be held throughout the county and online tools will be offered to citizens to give input over the next five months.
"Knox County is projected to grow by 11% over the next 30 years and the Central Ohio region is projected to grow by 30% over that same time. Together Knox is a chance to shape that growth to make Knox County even better in the future," according to togetherknox.org.
A Steering Committee will meet regularly throughout the planning process for Together Knox to provide guidance on the process and substance of the plan, serve as community advocates, and serve as stewards of the completed plan, according to its website. The committee is made up of a diverse group of community members.
Local government officials representing the Area Development Foundation, Knox County, the Regional Planning Commission and the City of Mount Vernon will monitor the progress of Together Knox.
