The Mount Vernon Police Department has received authorization to dispose of four vehicles no longer needed for public use. Safety-Service Director Tanner Salyers was directed by the Mount Vernon City Council on May 28 to sell or dispose of the vehicles.

According to the draft minutes package for the city council's May 28 meeting, Police Chief Robert Morgan informed the council that one of the vehicles is an old patrol car. The other three vehicles are forfeitures.

The four vehicles include a 2021 Ford Explorer, a 2007 blue Chevy Tahoe, a 2003 silver Honda Civic, and a 2005 black Honda Accord, according to the draft minutes package.

The value of the vehicles was determined to be more than $1,000. Proceeds from any sale will be returned to the city.
