HNCO/Hospice of Knox County has received the Quality of Life Award. | Hospice of Knox County

HNCO/Hospice of Knox County is thrilled to announce its receipt of the esteemed Quality of Life Award. The award, presented annually by the Knox County Chamber of Commerce, recognizes a nonprofit chamber member business whose work has enriched the lives of Knox County residents.

Experience Mount Vernon and The Salvation Army were also nominated for this award. The award was sponsored by Knox Community Hospital (KCH) and presented by Bruce White, CEO of Knox Community Hospital.

HNCO/Hospice of Knox County offers a comprehensive range of services, including hospice care, palliative care, and bereavement support, to meet the needs of each individual and family. Their team works collaboratively to provide care that honors the dignity and preferences of patients while offering comfort and guidance to their loved ones.

“Hospice of Knox County has served thousands of families with compassionate end-of-life care and services since 1983. They serve more than 200 patients, hospice & palliative, daily in Knox and surrounding counties and provide free continuous bereavement services to anyone in the community experiencing grief," White said. "They run a veteran program at local health care facilities and give certificates, pins, and hold a ceremony to honor veterans. This past year, Hospice of Knox County offered a Senior Seminar Series with presentations on elder law, home health services, health care burnout and other topics. They have a special request fund for patients that helps add to the quality of life and are always looking for ways to give back. Congratulations to Hospice of Knox County as the 2023 Quality of Life Award recipient.”

HNCO/Hospice of Knox County is honored to be the recipient of this special award and would like to thank the Knox County Chamber of Commerce and the community for their continued support of the organization for over 40 years.

“'We cannot force somebody to hear a message they are not ready to receive, but we must never underestimate the power of planting a seed,' is a quote by Tamara Kulish. This speaks to the lives we touch every day during difficult times in their lives. We don’t always see what is taking place in their lives, but we get to hear their stories and walk with them on their journey. We are honored and privileged to serve people within our community and are so blessed to receive this special recognition,” said Kathy Wantland, HNCO bereavement coordinator.
