Knox County Republicans can vote to rehire or hire a county commissioner during the March 19th primary for the January 3, 2025, seat. Considering their “resumes,” their experience, public and community service records, and their potential to serve Knox County residences, I recommend rehiring Thom Collier.

Mr. Collier has a distinguished history as a public servant serving Knox County as a Mount Vernon city councilman, our Ohio House Representative, and currently county commissioner. He has many awards and was honored by the Knox County Farm Bureau for Outstanding Service to Agriculture. In my opinion, Mr. Collier’s service to Knox residents his entire life stands out the most. He's given his time and energy working at the Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festivals, the Centerburg Farming Festivals, and the local 4th of July Fireworks event. He assists many charities, from supporting local pregnancy centers to those working to prevent child abuse.

Mr. Collier has worked for decades to get local, state, and national Republicans elected. From serving on the local central and executive committees to working on many Get Out the Vote activities.

Evaluation of Mr. Collier’s competitors, especially from their candidate night public statements, demonstrates their historical public and community service specific to Knox County, is almost nonexistent. His opponent, Mr. Phillips stated, “I haven’t got involved.” The other opponent, Ms. Keesee, only seems to mention her children attending the local colleges/universities. I heard a statement once, “I’m in the community for the community.” It seems Mr. Collier is the only candidate who is “IN” the community “FOR” the community.

Mr. Collier’s opponents both get poor grades on local Republican Party involvement. Mr. Phillips has repeatedly advertised for Democrats/Non-Republicans to vote for him. I find this disrespectful to me and other loyal Republicans. This devalues our Republican Primary Vote. Ms. Keesee, to my best findings, has also been absent for helping local Republicans and election activities. I understand that she has voted in less than half of the last seven Republican primaries. I don’t think it’s too much to ask of those competing as a Republican candidate to participate fully and actively, with integrity.

Mr. Collier has proven his long-time commitment to Knox County residents through his public and community service and as a Republican/Conservative.

I will “rehire” (vote for) Thom Collier for Knox County Commissioner and encourage other Republicans to do the same.
