The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife has selected Ariel-Foundation Park as one of the stocking locations for the release of rainbow trout. The aim of these releases is to ensure high angler success and harvest.
According to the ODNR's stocking dates and locations web page, the Division of Wildlife will release rainbow trout at Ariel-Foundation Park on March 21. Rainbow trout releases are scheduled across Ohio from March through May, provided that areas are ice-free and accessible to anglers. The rainbow trout, raised in state hatcheries, measure between 10-13 inches before their release.
An ODNR press release indicates that the daily harvest limit for inland lakes is set at five trout per angler.
In addition to this, some trout stocking locations host special events on the day of the scheduled release, such as youth-only fishing, according to another ODNR release. Fishing at state park youth ponds is restricted to those aged 16 years and younger for the first seven days after trout are released. Fishing then opens up to anglers of all ages until the end of April. Starting May 1, these ponds revert back to providing youth-only fishing for the remainder of the year.
Other popular rainbow trout fishing locations in central Ohio include Antrim Lake, Whetstone Park, Heritage Park Pond, Sunbury Upground Reservoir, and Delaware State Park Pond, as per information from the ODNR release.
