Paul Lambert and Jay Mahan were recently honored by their colleagues at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) during the Excellence in the Call awards reception. The recipients of these accolades are chosen by an awards committee through a meticulous review process of nominations.

According to an MVNU press release, one of Lambert's peers stated, "Paul Lambert brightens my day every morning I see him in the Ariel or PSU buildings. He has such a kind spirit, and his willingness to serve in any capacity is evident. People are important to him, and he will take time to get to know students’ names and talk with employees."

Lambert holds the position of Facility Services setup housekeeper at MVNU. His responsibilities include maintaining campus buildings and assisting with event setup. According to another MVNU press release, Lambert's colleagues described him as kind, personable, joyful, and caring.

Mahan serves as MVNU's assistant registrar for the School of Graduate and Adult Studies and also works as an adjunct professor. According to an MVNU press release, his peers characterized him as a caring, highly ethical, hard-working Christian individual who consistently goes above and beyond for MVNU and its online platform.

One peer was quoted in an MVNU press release saying about Mahan: "He is such a good encourager and teacher. He is always available to help. Even though he may have a busy schedule, he is never too busy to stop what he is doing to listen and help find an answer to a question."

The quarterly awards celebration includes recognition at an employee reception, a certificate, and $500 according to an MVNU press release. Nominations are reviewed by the Excellence in the Call Award Committee chaired by University Registrar Mel Severns.
