Knox Community Hospital is proud to announce that in 2023, our hospital welcomed a record-breaking number of newborns!

A total of 529 babies were born, with 276 boys and 253 girls making their grand entrance into the world.

One of those 529 babies born at KCH was a healthy, 8 pound and 9-ounce baby boy named Bo. First-time parents, Allie Bennett and her husband knew they didn’t have to look far for the perfect hospital to deliver their baby. Knox Community Hospital is located just a short drive from their home, and it was the ideal choice.

“My nurses, April, Josie and Bailey, were hands down my heroes that day,” remarked Allie. “They kept me calm and focused. They talked me through postpartum care and were there to hold me up during the most difficult moments."

Allie feels grateful that she gave birth at KCH. “I was able to put my faith and trust in Dr. Witham and the care team at KCH to do what was needed for the best outcome,” she stated. “Whether it’s vaginal or cesarean, your first or your fourth kid, you’re in good hands at KCH.”

Brittany Tutorow, BSN, RN, C-EFM, CLC, director of the center explained, “We are a family centered birthing center focused on providing state-of-the-art care to every woman and baby who walks through our doors. Every family that is cared for in our birthing center is truly a part of the KCH family.”

Opened in 2020 inside the Wright Family Medical Pavilion, the Ann Schnormeier Center for Birthing Care features eight spacious labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum (LDRP) suites, wireless fetal monitors so moms can get up and walk around while in labor and a state-of-the-art operating suite for both scheduled and unplanned cesarean section deliveries. Our spacious birthing suites encourage moms to keep their newborn in the same room with them during their stay. This provides an opportunity for families to bond with their new baby and become comfortable and confident in caring for them before returning home.

We would like to thank our birthing team for their hard work and commitment to providing top-notch care to our patients. They are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and baby and their expertise and compassion have helped us achieve this exciting milestone.
