Loudonville (5-9, 2-3) hosted Mid-Buckeye Athletic Conference rival St. Peter’s (1-10, 0-5) on Jan. 12, and it was a huge night for Judah Layton and Dilan Wade who accounted for 61 combined points in a 77-44 win.
The Redbirds took a 19-4 lead after one quarter with Layton scoring nine points to lead the way. Wade had five points, including a three, and Brady Gessner also had a three. Loudonville had a 21-15 second quarter to take a 40-19 lead at the half. Wade had 19 points and Layton had 16 points.
The Redbirds outscored St. Peter’s 24-15 in the third quarter to take a commanding 64-34 lead into the final frame, and they cruised to a dominant victory.
Layton had 31 points with three shots made from deep. Wade scored 30 points and hit four threes. Gessner also hit double figures with 11 points, including three from downtown.
On Jan. 14 the Redbirds stumbled with a 51-34 loss to Tuscarawas Central Catholic (3-8, 1-7). Wade continued to light up the scoreboard despite taking the defeat, putting up 19 points as the only player in double figures for the Redbirds.
Next up for Loudonville is a road matchup with conference rival Mansfield Christian (9-3, 4-1) on Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
