Corri Vermilya continues to turn heads with her incredible play this season, and last week she went above and beyond with a rare quadruple-double that all came in the first three quarters of an 88-8 blowout win for Loudonville (6-0, 2-0) over Medina Buckeye (0-8, 0-4).

The Lady Redbirds dominated the game from the start, outscoring Buckeye 34-0 in the first quarter and 67-2 at halftime. Vermilya went off for 16 points in the first quarter and led the way with 22 points at halftime.

In the third quarter running time had already begun and the Redbirds had a 19-3 advantage, and it was low scoring in the final frame but the damage had already fully been done in the 80 point blowout.

Vermilya was unstoppable, and who knows what kind of numbers she could have put up had she played the entire game. She finished with 26 points, 19 boards, 10 assists and 10 steals to achieve the rare feat. She was 6-6 from the free throw line, all in the first quarter.

Mya Vermilya was also a force for the Redbirds with 19 points, four assists and three steals. Jena Guilliams put up 17 points, four assists and four steals. She had five threes in the win.

Addison Wolford and Sophia Spangler each had eight points and four steals, while Wolford added four rebounds.

Coach Tyler Bates was amazed by the quadruple-double for Vermilya, saying it was the first of his coaching career. During the performance she also set the school rebounding record that was previously 951 boards held by Emily Seboe. He night put her at 962 career boards.

Bates said that Vermilya’s numbers could have been even bigger assist-wise, as players had trouble hitting layups.

“Corri continues to amaze all of us,” said Coach Bates. “A three quarter quadruple-double with no turnovers is not something that you ever expect to see in a high school game, but she continues to do the unthinkable.”

The Redbirds also tied the school record for free throw percentage in a game, going 10-for-10.

The game was played at Ashland University due to a water line break at Loudonville High School, and the players rose to the occasion of playing on a big stage.

“We are thankful for all of the staff at Ashland University, as well as our Loudonville gameday operations crew - for making the change of venue possible for this game,” Bates said. “Our girls enjoyed playing on the big floor.”

They also beat Central Christian in another blowout 78-12 win, and Vermilya was once again a force with a triple-double. She had a line of 29 points, 10 boards, 11 steals and six assists in the victory.

Mya Vermilya was on fire in the first half with 23 of her 24 points. She had a double-double with 10 steals, and also recorded three rebounds. Sydney Strouse and Alesha Felix each had six points. Sophia Spangler stuffed the stat sheet with four points, five boards, five assists and five steals. Jena Guilliams had three points and three assists.

“We play on Tuesday night at South Central (6-1). They have had a nice season and are the Firelands Conference frontrunners. We are looking forward to the challenge on the road against their senior laden team."

The win gives Loudonville a 6-0 record and 2-0 in the Mid-Buckeye Conference, and each win has been by 30 points or more.

The Redbirds have three road games next week, traveling to South Central on Dec. 19, Lucas on Dec. 21 and Alliance on Dec. 23.
