Centerburg bowling struggles with losses to Mount Gilead

The Centerburg boys’ bowling team took on Mount Gilead last week, taking a 1758-1600 loss to the Indians.

Sophomore Michael Wallace was the top bowler with scores of 165 and 160. Senior Greg Beard had a game high of 176, followed by senior third year bowler Jesse Rings with 171. 

The varsity team returns four starters this year that include Rings and Beard, who is in his second year, along with Tristin Hankinson and Michael Wallace who are in their second years of bowling. Junior Tommy Weaver is in his first year bowling and is also on the starting lineup. The team has two sophomores returning, three other sophomores in their first year, and four freshmen.

The Centerburg girls’ bowling team also lost to the Indians, 1374-1161. Leading the way was sophomore Azala Compton, with a combined score of 236. This year the team has two returning sophomores in Compton and Emma Belcher. First year players are Abbie Collier, junior Gabby Bowens, sophomores Karsen Griffith and Makenna Heskett, and freshman Tesla Blankenship.
