For the second week in a row, there was no clearer choice for Mount Vernon Athlete of the Week Award than Corri Vermilya, who has been red hot leading the Loudonville girls’ basketball team to a 4-0 start.

In only three quarters of play in a 70-36 OCC win over Ashland, Vermilya was completely dominant putting up 32 points. She also hit the glass hard with eight boards, and showed off her defense with five steals.

She was on another level with a triple-double against Mansfield Christian in a blowout win. She had 26 points, 11 boards and 12 steals, narrowly missing the elusive quadruple-double with eight assists. She also blocked a shot in the game.

On the season Vermilya has numbers through the roof, averaging 26.5 points per game, 10.8 rebounds and 7.8 steals. Vermilya is also now the school record holder in takeaways, as she broke the record during the win over Ashland. She sits at 406 steals currently.

Congratulations to Corri Vermilya for the big week and excellent start to her season at Loudonville.
