19 to be inducted on Loudonville-Perrysville All-Sports Hall of Fame

December 16 will be a huge day for the community at Loudonville High School as there will be not only be a basketball triple header, but also the induction of 19 alumni athletes into the Loudonville-Perrysville All-Sports Hall of Fame.

“The 2023 class features graduates spanning 85 years - from both Loudonville High School and Perrysville High School, high-level coaches, state championship athletes and contributors who have provided valuable resources for the sustainment of our athletic programs,” Loudonville High School Athletic Director Tyler Bates said in a release.

Inductees for 2023 include: Kermit “Kay Atterholt, Chad Beachler, Tristan Bender, Jim Brewer, Blake Cary, Andie Heffelfinger, Bill Herman, Bob Hughes, Mark Schlabach, Trevor Scott, Tom and Jeannie Stake, John Van Camp, Andy Van Horn, Austin VanSickle, Misty Wells, Sarah Wickline, Sierra Wright and Amy Zuercher.

According to Bates, this is the second year that the Hall of Fame has been active after taking extended time off. He said it is a way to “preserve the legacy of athletes, coaches and contributors who made a positive impact” on athletics. It is also to inspire athletes to work to be great.

“The Loudonville-Perrysville community is proud of our rich athletic history,” Bates stated in the release. “It’s always a pleasure to have the opportunity to recognize these players, coaches and contributors - who have done so much for us over the years.”

There will be three games against Kidron Central Christian during the day. The JV boys’ basketball team will kick things off at 1 p.m. The varsity girls’ basketball team will then hit the court at 2:30 p.m. The induction of the 19 honorees will take place after the girls’ basketball game. The boys’ varsity team will top off at 4 p.m. 

Members of the community are encouraged to go root on the Redbirds and honor those who have excelled for the athletic program in years past. Tickets for adults are $7 and students get in for $5, and the tickets include all three games and the ceremony.
