Trooper Robert P. Myers was named the Mount Gilead Post Trooper of the Year | Ohio State Highway Patrol

Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Robert P. Myers has been selected as the 2023 Trooper of the Year at the Mount Gilead Post, which serves Knox and Morrow Counties. The selection recognizes his exceptional service in maintaining public safety.

This notable achievement is not a stand-alone honor. He was also selected as the 2023 Columbus District Trooper of the Year which puts him in the running for State Trooper of the Year, according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol media release.

But what led to Myers' recognition? Myers was chosen as Trooper of the Year by his fellow officers stationed at Mount Gilead, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol media release. They based their choice on leadership abilities, enthusiastic work attitude, professional ethics, cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public, and courteous treatment of others.

A closer look at his career reveals more about this distinguished trooper. He joined the Highway Patrol in 2018 and has served since then at the Mount Gilead Post, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol media release. Originally from Massillon, Ohio, he graduated from Jackson High School.

His record does not end there; it features several other commendations. Myers has received other awards from the Ohio State Highway Patrol including Criminal Patrol Award in 2021, 2022 and 2023; Ace Award for stolen vehicles in 2020; and a Health and Fitness Award according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol media release. He successfully completed training to become a Drug Recognition Expert this year.

In addition to his professional life, Myers maintains a wholesome family life. He lives in Delaware County with his wife, Amanda, and their two children, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol media release.
