MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Honor Program has partnered with Rumpke and T-Shirt Express to provide a free opportunity for Knox County residents to dispose of unwanted items.
Knox County Community Clean-Up Day, Saturday, Nov. 4, is an event that encourages community members to clean up around their property and remove refuse items to keep neighborhoods clean and beautiful.
Dumpsters will be available at Riverside Park, 151 Riverside Drive, Mount Vernon, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friendly volunteers will be on-site to provide guidance and assistance including unloading heavy items or additional information.
Mount Vernon residents unable to transport their items to Riverside Park, can leave a voicemail at 740-291-3778 to schedule a pickup. Deadline to request a pickup is noon on Friday, Nov. 3.
Acceptable items are non-hazardous waste, debris and general junk including:
- Packaging
- Yard Waste
- Mattresses
- Toys
- Cloth
- Furniture
- Paper
- Metal
- Hardware and fixtures
- Siding
- Drywall
- Carpeting or flooring
- Shingles and construction debris
- Batteries
- Paint cans or lacquer containers
- Oil or oil-soaked rags
- Refrigerators
- Hot water tanks
- Tires
- Medical waste
- Flammable or hazardous items
