Legislative Chairperson Sue Roy reminded everyone of the upcoming election on November 7. Two statewide issues are on the ballot, being Issue 1 making abortions legal and added to the state constitution and Issue 2 making marijuana legal to grow at home and for recreational use. We have a crisis at the borders with over 116,000 illegals coming in to the United States. National grange is hosting a zoom meeting on Mental Health on November 16. We are very concerned with the suicide of our farmers. It is estimated that we will have 100,000 less farms by 2040 in the United States. We need to encourage more students to look about farming into their futures. Roy also stated that we may see new types of flour in the near future due to the Ukraine war. We get lots of our wheat from Ukraine and the Russians are killing the farmers and taking the wheat for themselves.
Family Activities Chairperson Mary Jewell reminded everyone that the next year baking, craft and photos contests are in the new September/October grange magazine. All entries are almost packed and ready to go to the Ohio State Grange Convention for this year.
