Danville (6-16, 3-9) and East Knox (5-14, 4-9) went head to head in KMAC volleyball action on Oct. 10, and MyKenzie Neitzelt of the Blue Devils put together an all-around great performance to knock off the Bulldogs 3-1.
Neitzelt had 15 assists to go with her five kills, three aces, four blocks and nine digs to pace the Danville squad. Zoey Neitzelt had nine blocks and three digs in a solid defensive performance. She also had eight assists. Delaney Alvis tallied 14 digs and Hope Moore added six kills.
For the Bulldogs, Sydney Opfer had 13 kills, 10 assists, two blocks and 34 digs. Kiara Knepp had an incredible 40 digs in the match, while Addison Mostaka also played solid defense with 30 digs. Hiba Ezzarouali and Addison Davis had 20 and 19 digs respectively. Imogen Winkler had 12 assists in the match.
Danville also played Lucas (5-16, 2-6) last week on Oct. 12 and lost 3-1. The Blue Devils won the first set 25-23, then lost the final three sets 25-13, 25-9 and 25-21.
Next up is the first game of the Division IV, Central 1-Sectional/District tournament. The No. 13 Blue Devils travel to No. 10 Sugar Grove Berne Union on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m.
No. 12 East Knox travels to No. 6 Groveport Madison Christian on Oct. 18 for a 7 p.m. match.
