Colonel Crawford dominates East Knox with 49-15 victory in high-scoring clash

Colonel Crawford 49, East Knox 15

Colonel Crawford (3-0) jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter against East Knox (1-2, 0-0) and never looked back, en route to a 49-15 lopsided win over the Bulldogs on Friday.

Colonel Crawford went up 7-0 in the first quarter when Trevor Vogt ran back a kickoff for 75 yards, and Braxton Morton knocked it through the uprights. Vogt scored again on a 43-yard touchdown run to go up 14-0 with a Morton kick. Blake Elliott put the Bulldogs on the board with a two-yard run, and Will Jensen kicked a PAT to make it a 14-7 game. The Eagles extended their lead to 21-7 with a Vogt pass to Connor McMichael for 57 yards. A highlight for the Bulldogs in the first quarter was when Jaxon Lester unleashed for a 65 yard pass play on a bomb to Caden Wengerd that got the Bulldogs down near the goal line.

In the second quarter, on third and nine, Wengerd got in on the defense with an interception he returned for 17 yards. However, the only scoring in the quarter would come from the Eagles on a McMichael touchdown run of 18 yards.

The third quarter was all Eagles with Vogt scoring on a 25-yard run and Micah Thompson scampering in from 18 yards out. Thomas scored again in the fourth quarter, running in from 14 yards out to make it a 49-7 game. Luke Holsinger scored for the Bulldogs on an 18-yard run but the Eagles held on for the easy win.

Holsinger ran the ball well for the Bulldogs, rushing seven times for 70 yards and a touchdown. Lester had a tough day passing going 5-for-16 for 92 yards and a pair of interceptions. He also ran seven times for 31 yards. Wengerd had a pair of catches for 80 yards. On defense, Wengerd had four tackles and an interception.
